Physical Geography (Climatology/Meteorology) / GIScience

MICHIGAN, KALAMAZOO, 49008-5424. The Department of Geography at Western Michigan University seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of an Assistant Professor with specialization in Climatology/Meteorology. Preference will be given to candidates with additional expertise in GIScience. This is an opportunity to help build department strength in climatology /meteorology, as well as GIScience, and to participate in university-wide commitment to climate change and sustainability. Expectations include teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in physical geography, climatology / meteorology, and GIScience as needed; on-going research (preferably through external funding) and publication; and service on graduate student thesis committees as well other department, college, and university committees.

Candidates must have a PhD in Geography/Meteorology/Atmospheric Science or a related discipline, and a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching, research, and service, evidence of scholarly productivity, as well as demonstrated commitment to support the success of students from underrepresented groups.
