Position Summary:

The ESA / LEA faculty member will perform instructional duties and related activities for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Emergency Service Administration and the Law Enforcement Academy. Faculty members generally teach 30 credit hours annually (15 credits each fall and spring semester). Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery (e.g. hybrid, online, or accelerated); some weekend/evening teaching may be required. Face-to-face and hybrid courses may be scheduled at ACC's Littleton Campus, Parker Campus, and/or Castle Rock Campus. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; performing advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; performing student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions. Every ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the assessment process of the College, utilizing the results of assessment for continuous institutional improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, or higher, in a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Five (5) years' experience in the field of law enforcement or other related Emergency Services field. Part-time experience will be pro-rated; ten years of applicable part-time experience is equivalent to five years of full-time experience.

  • Have, or qualify for, a postsecondary CTE credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the last seven (7) years.


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or other doctorate degree from an accredited institution.

  • One (1) year experience in a basic Emergency Services Academy environment.

  • Experience advising students.

  • Demonstrated success building professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external clients and outside agencies.

  • Competency with multiple instructional delivery methods such as online, hybrid, web-enhanced, and face-to-face.

  • Experience developing and marketing programs.

  • Postsecondary instructional experience.

    Physical Demands:

    The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.

  • May need to stoop, reach, handle, have manual dexterity and the ability to talk and hear.

  • Mental function demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

    Advertised Salary Range: Salary range for this position is $62,775 to $69,275 annually, commensurate within this range based on education and experience. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position. The salary for this position is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The projected start date for this position is August 12, 2019; salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked.
