Position Information
The BEES Administrative Unit provides business services for a large and complex operation encompassing extensive teaching, research, and outreach components for the Botanic Gardens, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and Student Services (including the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center, the Graduate Student Affairs Center, and the Science and Math Initiative) for the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS). In addition, BEES supports the UCR employees and campus purchases of the USDA Salinity Laboratory and provides conference management support for all units within CNAS. Under the general supervision of the BEES Financial Operations Manager, the Contract and Grants Analyst will work in partnership with the lead Contract and Grants Analyst to manage the pre- and post-award administration of over 230 fund sources for over 40 Principal Investigators. The incumbent will prepare agency-specific, multi-year budgets and coordinate the submission of proposals to multiple agencies; prepare comprehensive and detailed reports; assist faculty in planning for the effective and appropriate use of all their funds; ensure compliance with agency-specific terms and conditions, federal guidance, and UC policy; and coordinate all aspects of Sales and Service funds. The successful incumbent will work with a diverse set of customers and will have a cheerful, welcoming, and patient attitude; will take ownership of assigned duties as demonstrated by the indecently shepherding tasks to a successful conclusion; will promptly communicate problems and issues to the Financial Operations Manager; will work quickly and accurately; and will enjoy being both a knowledgeable resource and link between faculty, students, staff, and campus resources. Minimum Requirements
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.


Preferred Qualifications
Writing skils to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.

Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.

Demonstrated knowledge of Contracts & Grants policies and procedures at both the UC system-wide level and the local UCR campus level.

Demonstrated knowledge of UCR's financial systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of various on-line proposal and post-award research applications.

Work experience in higher education.
