Job Description
The individual will work with a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research team. Some activities will include performing membrane integrity assays, cell imaging, microdilutions, and synergistic assays. Culturing and maintaining Bd and frog cell lines for experiments will be a responsibility. The individual will assist with planning, designing, executing, and troubleshooting experiments; lead data collection and analysis; and, participate in manuscript writing. This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon the continued funding of the grant.


Responsibilities
  • Collects, interprets, describes, and documents complex analytical and evaluative research data specific to research activities include performing membrane integrity assays, cell imaging, microdilutions, and synergistic assays.
  • Sets up and performs research experiments and procedures following prescribed protocol with autonomy.
  • The individual will assist with planning, designing, executing, and troubleshooting experiments; lead data collection and analysis; and, participate in manuscript writing.
  • Perform assignments under intermittent supervision. Culturing and maintaining fungal and frog cell lines for experiments will be a responsibility.
  • Performs laboratory analytical procedures and techniques which require complex analysis to determine results.
  • Prepares reports, analyses, and basic models identifying progress and trends; makes recommendations or conclusions.
  • Writes standard operating procedures.
  • Provides technical aspects for a variety of research project components.
  • Manages data and databases.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacology or closely related field with at least 1 year of laboratory experience as an undergraduate student or after graduation or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Skilled in microbiological techniques used in culturing and maintaining pathogens and animal cell lines.
    • Knowledge or experience in performing microbiological assays, microdilution, and using a plate reader and fluorescence microscopy.
    • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, and willingness to adapt to changing situations.
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Willingness to learn new techniques.
    • Possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacology or closely related field with at least 2 years of laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with creating and executing communications content (e.g., progressively responsible).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communication mediums.
