Job Description
THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), this position will conduct experimental research focused using human models of uveal melanoma to understand the role of signaling pathways in ocular cancer tumorigenesis and testing of new drugs that will target these aberrant pathways to improve the sensitivity of uveal melanoma to treatment in vitro and in vivo.
Responsibilities
1. Conducts and analyzes molecular and cell biology experiments, including DNA, RNA, protein extraction and analyses, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, PCR, and other techniques.
2. Performs cell culture maintenance, development, and maintenance of uveal cancer stem cells.
3. Perform experiments focused on uveal melanoma cell lines and cancer stem-like cells to investigate the role of signaling pathways in ocular cancer tumorigenesis and testing of new drugs that will target these aberrant pathways.
4. Communicate with investigators to understand research project and to determine files to be digitized.
5. Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
MD or PhD; 4 years of laboratory experience as graduate student or medical researcher. Prior Animal handling and cell culture experience. Experience with Molecular and Cell Biology experiments, including DNA, RNA, protein extraction and analyses, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, PCR, and other techniques.
