Applications are currently being accepted for Accounting Technician in the Administrative Services department, located at the San Diego Continuing Education, Cesar Chavez Campus. Hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

The Accounting Technicians are expected to meet the following minimum qualifications upon completing the first six (6) months of employment in an Accounting Technician assignment. Knowledge: Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computer hardware and software. Oral and written communications skills. Practices of financial and statistical record-keeping, including accounting and bookkeeping systems. Procedures, policies, rules, and practices affecting the development, maintenance, and control of budgeting and accounting systems. Record-keeping techniques. Technical aspects of field of specialty. Skills and Abilities: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Maintain interrelated records and files. Maintain records and prepare reports. Meet schedules and time lines. Operate standard office machines and equipment, including computers and calculators. Perform a wide variety of paraprofessional accounting work. Plan and organize work. Post data and make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy. Prepare clear and accurate financial statements and reports and analyze accounting data. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Use computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and other relevant kinds. Work confidentially with discretion. Work independently with little direction.

Pay Information:
Range 21 ($3,452.19 $5,510.47) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
