Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice (Cardiology)

Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking applicants for a 12-month tenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy. This position will alternate providing clinical service in the Cardiac Acute Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital and in the UT Health MARC Cardiology Clinic.

Essential Functions
Major responsibilities for this position include teaching in the didactic and experiential curriculum, providing a clinical pharmacy service to patients in the cardiac acute care unit/intensive care unit and outpatient cardiology clinic, service to the University, and scholarly activities. Official duties and responsibilities of tenure track faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have considerable experience in the management of cardiology conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient settings and have the ability to work with students, patients, multidisciplinary providers, and pharmacy staff to optimize patient care. Must possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employees shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with 2 years of postgraduate residency training in internal medicine, pharmacotherapy, cardiology, or equivalent experience.

Required Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience as a faculty member in a school of pharmacy and clinical experience in cardiology.

Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in pharmacotherapy or cardiology

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Applicants must be a licensed pharmacist and eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Texas. Applicants will be expected to become a certified preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicants must obtain and maintain credentialing with University Hospital and UT Health.
