Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice (Emergency Medicine)

Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking applicants for a 12-month nontenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy. This is a split funded position with the Feik School of Pharmacy and Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills. The expected practice site is the emergency department of Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills.

Essential Functions
The major responsibilities of this nontenure track position will be the provision of clinical pharmacy services to patients in the emergency department, limited order entry, and involvement with Pharmacy and Therapeutics initiatives. The faculty member will serve as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students as well as residents. Didactic teaching will primarily be within the Schools skills lab series but may also occur within other courses or labs. Service and scholarship expectations will be commensurate with the Schools nontenure track guidelines. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have extensive experience in the management of acute medical conditions and have the ability to work with students, patients, multidisciplinary providers, and pharmacy staff to optimize patient care. Must possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employees shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with 2 years of postgraduate residency training in emergency medicine, or equivalent experience.

Required Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience as a faculty member in a school of pharmacy and clinical experience in acute care.

Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in pharmacotherapy, ability to communicate in Spanish

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Applicants must be a licensed pharmacist and eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Texas. Applicants will be expected to become a certified preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicants must obtain and maintain credentialing with Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills.
