The Position:
Applications are now being accepted for an Assistant Professor of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating, and Environmental Control position at San Diego City College beginning Fall 2018. One of the three colleges in the San Diego Community College District, City College is an urban campus, minutes away from a world-class zoo and Balboa Park, providing academic and vocational offerings to meet the needs of a diverse student population. While the current vacancy is at City College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment at any District facility at the option of the Chancellor. The assignment may include day, evening, Saturday, and/or off-campus classes.

Major Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a variety of classes in the area of environmental controls. The instructor will also mentor adjuncts and work closely with classified staff to facilitate program growth, including developing curriculum for existing and new courses. The successful applicant is expected to work closely with faculty in the department to coordinate the development, assessment and reporting of student learning outcomes. Job obligations also include maintaining office hours for student advisement and counseling, participating with other college faculty on academic committees, and developing contacts with local industry.

Qualifications:
Any bachelors degree AND two years of professional experience, OR any associate degree AND six years of professional experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated mastery of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration and environmental control including control systems technology. Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or related training in air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and energy management. Demonstrated understanding a mastery of a wide variety of applications in related technological fields. Demonstrated plan for the continued professional education and mastery of the subject matter. mastery of the subject matter. Demonstrated experience and professional growth working with industry and business, including experience/involvement working with professional or technical societies. Evidence of extensive and recent experience in industry in the air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration and energy management, environmental control, including iIndustry industrial experience in any of the following areas: refrigeration, heating, air conditioning or environmental control. Demonstrate experience or interest in curriculum development, in particular, in the development of laboratory components supporting lecture courses. The ability to make effective classroom presentations by demonstrating a working knowledge of learning theory, integrating varied teaching methods alternative techniques in the classroom, and a subject matter mastery. The ability to integrate the computer applications in both lecture and laboratory environments. situations. (i.e. data acquisition, simulation, etc). Demonstrated evidence of strong communication skills. Demonstrated evidence of successfully working with a culturally and academically diverse population.
