Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Creative Director in the University Marketing and Communications department.

The candidate would be the University's brand champion and steward who will inspire and lead the creative content team in strategic problem solving in both print and digital space and across media platforms, and would build and maintain synergistic partnerships with key marketing contacts across the University.

Key responsibilities of the Director will be to develop and ensure compliance with new visual identity guidelines; to bring visionary creative energy to how the University can generate more brand visibility; and to help internal clients think strategically about audiences, objectives, and channels in order to produce deliverables that effectively address the clients' marketing challenges.

The Director will be an innovative thinker and creative problem solver with a sophisticated visual sensibility. He/she will need to have strong management experience and a general affability that engenders good working relationships with clients and other internal stakeholders. A chief strength will be solving for the execution of a brand strategy through creative storytelling and engagement campaigns across multiple media platforms, as well as understanding segmentation, data analytics, and qualitative data that can inform the approach to strategy. The Director should thrive on being an admired mentor and developing talent among a team that includes designers, writers, a photographer/videographer, a social media coordinator, and a creative project manager.

Beyond print and digital, the Director will need to be able to run a video shoot, and either create or offer suggestions for storyboards, edits, music, or titles. The Director will also need to be able to work with a writer to develop engaging storytelling in a radio spot, as well as curate messaging per platform to various and diverse audiences (including prospective students, parents, current students, employees, donors, faculty members, alumni, and the general public).

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Required Years of Experience: 5

Other Requirements:
Bachelors degree in marketing, graphic design, copywriting, new media, or a related field. Five years of experience in a creative management role, ideally in marketing and/or advertising. Experience leading and managing concept, design, and production in support of client needs that are consistent with brand strategy and visual identity guidelines.

Strong client management skills. Strong prioritization, project management, analytical, and organizational skills. High familiarity with print and web production processes and deliverables. Deep understanding of current and emerging cultural and technology trends.

Comfortability with a fast-paced environment in which multiple projects and tasks need to be worked on simultaneously, and time-sensitive deadlines need to be met. Respect for Monmouths institutional culture and knowledge of higher education culture in general. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as an art director, creative director, or lead designer. Experience in copywriting and/or editing. Experience in higher education.
