Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Director of Development, Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The candidate would be expected to: work collaboratively with the leadership of the University, the dean and faculty of the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences to build and sustain relationships with major gift donors and prospects; actively engage donors and prospects capable of making commitments of $25,000 or more through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, including renewals, upgrades and continuous strategic identification of new donors; manage a portfolio of approximately 150 leadership gift donors and prospects.

Bachelor's degree

Required Skills or Software:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment, Intermediate knowledge of MS Word 2013, Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel 2013

Required Years of Experience: 5

Other Requirements:
Five years of development experience, preferably in higher education or comparable professional experience.

Proven track record of soliciting major gifts, planned gifts and grants. Experience in developing cases for support. Demonstrated understanding of and passion for higher education. Excellent interpersonal skills required to relate to donors, prospects, volunteers, and colleagues. Well-developed negotiating, organizational, analytical, fundraising and writing skills.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision; a self-starter. Able to motivate and work with diverse constituencies. Possess a high level of integrity and able to exercise confidentiality and discretion. Must be professional In all respects.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree. Background with donor management software, such as Raisers Edge.
