Salary:
Salary Range: $4,362 - $6,209 per month

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,362 - $4,583 per month. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Note: This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

Overview:
Under supervision of CGE Executive Director and other CGE management, the Extended Education Specialist I is responsible for the planning, content development, and implementation of Extended Education programming. The Extended Education Specialist I will interface with campus faculty and community stakeholders to develop both credit bearing and non-credit bearing certificate and stand-alone programs for Extended Education. The Extended Education specialist collaborates to develop and support professional conferences, workshops, mid-career training as well as travel-study programming.

Position Summary:
Major duties of the job include:
  • Under supervision of CGE Executive Director and other CGE management, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, communication, and implementation of a broad range ofExtension, Extension Contract, travel-study and non-credit programs and courses.
  • Assess needs for new or augmented program offerings in Extension.
  • Provides leadership and program administration for Extension, Extension Contract, and non-credit programs/courses.
  • Enters and maintains required PeopleSoft functions including set up of courses, scheduling of courses, maintenance of rosters, establishment of permission numbers, attachment of fees, due date rules, session rule, and refund rules, among other technical aspects of course setup for a wide array of courses.
  • Coordinate the implementation of a Special Session (e.g., May-June Intersession, Summer Session, or Winter Intersession) including course set-up, scheduling, and communication with faculty and students.
  • Review and report enrollment data of all Extension courses.
  • Author MOUs between CGE and outside vendor or agencies.
  • Prepare program budgets.
  • Analyze program costs and disburse net income.
  • Estimate faculty pay and coordinate with CGE Payroll and Contracts Coordinator for remuneration within CSU policy.
  • Effectively communicates with faculty and instructors regarding all aspects of course development and maintenance, including resolving issues/problems.
  • Coordination of operational and logistic aspects of programs, including classroom scheduling both on and off campus, as necessary.
  • Researching and recommending new Extension Programs.
  • Arranging and maintaining audit-ready files on all aspects of the programs under the incumbent.
  • Evaluating effectiveness of programs in concert with the Executive Director and implementing necessary changes as directed;
  • Planning and implementing promotion and publicity of programs;
  • Coordinating all operational and logistical aspects of programs in concert with the Executive Director.
  • Perform a variety of programmatic research and development tasks related to the development of Extension programs.
  • Communicating with High School teachers for dual enrollment programs including coordination with instructors for course equivalence and providing instructions to students. Performing all course setup in Peoplesoft.
  • Communicating with educational partners for contracted programs including coordination with instructors for course equivalence and providing enrollment pathways. Performing all course setup in Peoplesoft.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and requirements governing all programs.

    Secondary Duties of this job include:
  • Performing research and developing reports on trends with in the continuing and extended professional, and international education fields in order to provide recommendations on future program development based on research findings
  • Coordinating with the office of Study Abroad to perform course setup for short term study abroad programs.
  • Assisting the Executive Director with administrative activities related to program development.
  • Based on assignment from the Executive Director, coordinate other extended education programs including extension credit, extension non-credit, contract, and lifelong learning offerings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to develop and schedule Extension courses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the procedures and practices of educational program and curriculum planning and the processes required to plan and construct academic programs in cooperation with academic departments.
  • Ability to:
    o Determine needs for new or revised programs.
    o Develop budgets and analyze costs.
    o Develop and implement promotional strategies.
    o Manage logistics of providing classes.
    o Collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations.
    o Effectively organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced team-oriented environment.
    o Interpret and evaluate problems, analyze and draw valid conclusions and carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions.
    o Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues, university staff, representatives of community organizations, agencies and the public.
    o Be responsive, innovative, results oriented in planning, developing, and implementing educational programs.
  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations.

    Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Minimum of two (2)years of experience planning classes and curriculum including resources, budgets, and operating as a liaison with the community.

    Preferred Skills:
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and related systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the Fresno State campus and community.
  • Demonstrated understanding of CSU credit bearing degree and certificate approval processes.
