About the Position:
Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Health and Safety this position is responsible for major and minor project oversight to ensure that projects are compliant with construction safety standards. This position works closely with CPFM estimators/planners, project managers, and trade's staff to ensure outside contractors and internal CPFM staff follow OSHA construction rules and regulations in regards to personal protective equipment, equipment certifications, safety training, operation of construction equipment, and safety plans. The position will provide input into the construction scope of work, meet with the project construction staff prior to initiation of work, and conduct onsite safety audits during the construction. The position will develop standard checklists for routine building upgrade and repair projects and operation of construction equipment; work with parking and transportation, CPFM communication specialist, and University Police, when necessary to provide compliant work areas during the construction. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus four years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in the research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems, address them proactively, and develop appropriate recommendations leading to solutions. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in construction of both large and small projects, preferably in a public higher education environment. Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, structural, and other systems in institutional buildings.


Special Working Conditions:
Will work on construction sites, walking and observing in varying weather conditions and on uneven surfaces. Will be required to work outside of normal business hours.
