Job Summary
The University of Michigan-Flint seeks a dynamic individual to recruit and enroll motivated undergraduate students. This position will be a regional recruitment coordinator that will primarily be responsible for recruiting students from regional metropolitan/urban areas of Washington DC. This position will be regionally located within the Washtington DC area and will require extensive travel within the region.

Primary purpose of this position is to recruit and coordinate the admissions programs activities of specific out-of-state regions. This person will build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders within secondary schools, community colleges, prospective students, parents, and community members. The regional recruitment coordinator will provide targeted recruitment strategies and planning with prospective first year and transfer students from recruitment region. This position focuses on recruiting students who are academically prepared and excited about becoming part of a community of diverse learners and scholars. This person will act as a communication liaison between UM-Flint Admissions, faculty, staff, and other University departments.

The recruitment officer will meet with prospective first year and transfer students, answer questions, and provide assistance with enrollment to the University. This is a full-time, exempt position. This person must have both the desire and passion to engage in significant interpersonal communications with prospective students over the phone, as well as in-person, e-mail, and text messaging. The preferred candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, be an effective team player, and excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities*
Responsible for supporting targeted marketing, communications, recruitment strategies, and services for prospective first year and transfer students within the Washington DC area with consideration of overall admissions goals and in support of the University's strategic enrollment planning services. Develop, implement, and administer Undergraduate Admissions recruitment plan for assigned territory. Develop and monitor reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational effectiveness and efficiency. Collect and analyze data to determine effectiveness of current admissions activities. Utilize the data to maximize opportunities for enrollment growth. Monitor enrollment trends and adjust short and long-term recruitment strategies accordingly.

Coordinate with schools, colleges, and offices across the UM-Flint campus for participation in programs. Conduct informational meetings and presentations with students, faculty, and staff at various recruitment events. Provide support for recruitment events, which can include, representing the University at various on and off campus recruitment events.

Build and strengthen relationships with primary feeder schools to help increase yield. Develop new markets to broaden qualified applicant pool from the recruitment region. Coordinate visitation and travel to high volume/yielding high schools and community colleges. Exercise significant discretion and independent judgement in developing and modifying travel schedules during the admissions year to meet the University's admissions goals. Support the University's mission of building an academically excellent and diverse educational community. Advise students on admissions preparation, educational opportunities, and academic requirements at UM-Flint. Meet with students and parents in small groups or individually. Interpret University admissions policies and procedures. Provide assistance and answer questions regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, and student life either in person, via phone, email or text messaging with the goal of seeing them through enrolling with the University.

Provide liaison services to other UM-Flint offices including financial aid, housing, orientation, or specific schools and colleges. Evaluate admissions applications and make appropriate decisions. Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff.

Assist with face-to-face and online communications. Provide input with communications and marketing pieces. Attend various on campus and off campus meetings. Depending upon outcomes, this position can be reassigned to another territory.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Must have valid driver's license to operate University owned vehicle. One or more year's sales experience, or college admissions experience.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Must have strong organization skills. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to operate independently and make independent decisions.

Desired Qualifications*
Master's Degree in higher education or related field. Perfered 2 years or more in college admissions. Experience working with underrepresented, diverse markets.
