CSUB offers a master's degree in Educational Counseling, with two possible concentrations—School Counseling and Student Affairs in Higher Education. This extensively field-based program provides students with practical experience working with members of our unique population. As a Hispanic Serving Institution focused on access and inclusivity, we strive to provide our students with the best preparation possible as they aim to make a difference in the educational community. We are seeking two tenure-track faculty to work with us toward these goals.
Responsibilities: The successful candidates will teach specialty courses in the Educational Counseling Program's School Counseling and/or Student Affairs concentrations and core program courses for all students. Additional duties include supervision of practicum and fieldwork placement (K-12) supervision; student advising; committee work; maintaining a program of scholarship; and service to the community and profession. Some additional duties may include program coordinator/directorship and teaching in the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Program.
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field (ABD candidates may apply; if ABD, doctorate must be conferred on an official transcript by August 1, 2020);
Professional experience as a K-12 School Counselor in the public schools (two years minimum);
Demonstrated ability to teach master's-level School Counseling courses;
Evidence of, or promise for, supervision of master's students;
Evidence of, or promise for, scholarship (e.g., conference presentations, scholarly publications, grant writing).
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with candidates, staff, faculty, and partners;
Established record of success in serving linguistically and culturally diverse populations;
Proficiency with instructional technology;
Experience with online teaching;
Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. CSUB offers competitive salaries and a generous benefits package (e.g., excellent health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits).
Workload: The normal workload includes teaching assignments, service, advising, and campus committee assignments. It may also involve program coordination.
