Assistant Professor of Nematology

Position Description:
The University of California, Riverside invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Plant Nematology to begin July 1, 2020. The position is a 9-month appointment in the Department of Nematology in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. Appointment level and salary are commensurate with experience. The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded research program, focused on plant-nematode interactions and plant resistance to nematodes using modern experimental approaches including genetics, functional genomics and metabolomics. The appointee is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, participate in campus service and outreach relevant to the California Agricultural Experiment Station https://cnas.ucr.edu/resources/agricultural-experiment-station.

The Department of Nematology:
The Department of Nematology is committed to a broad-based mission in nematology research, teaching, and outreach including strengths in ecology, agriculture, pest and disease science, parasitology, and health science. Faculty and their graduate students are highly collaborative with campus programs including Entomology, Evolution, Ecology, & Organismal Biology, Genetics, Genomics, & Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, and Biomedical Sciences.

Qualifications:
A PhD in plant pathology, entomology, nematology, plant biology or a closely-related field is required and postdoctoral training is preferred. Expertise in plant-nematode or plant-pathogen/pest interactions is desirable.
