The Department of Public Health & Health Education at The College at Brockport, State University of New York is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Public Health and Health Education, conduct scholarly research, and engage in departmental, school, and college service activities. Anticipated start date of August 2020.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD (or equivalent) in community/public health education, or a related discipline (e.g. health psychology, health promotion, public health) by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach public health education courses.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g. peer reviewed research).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with online teaching.
  • Health education experience.
  • Experience in administration/committee management.
  • Experience in academic advisement.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).


Department Description

The Department of Public Health & Health Education serves over 450 students in two undergraduate programs (Consumer Health, Public Health Education) and two masters' programs (School Health Education, Community Health Education). Faculty are committed to preparing students to work in public health by providing high quality education and utilizing high impact practices that build students' skills and competencies as outlined by national organizations. Faculty are also committed to moving the field of public health forward by conducting and disseminating the findings of research, evaluation and other creative endeavors and to working closely with community partners to enhance the health of the population.
