Associate Director Global Campus Mobility

About the Opportunity

With supervision from the Director of Alternative Pathways, the Associate Director (AD) of Global Campus Mobility is responsible for the successful delivery of academic programs and experiences on and across Northeastern's global campuses. Through the student mobility program, students spend a portion of their academic experience living, studying, and working in a major global city at on one of Northeastern's network campuses. The AD is responsible for ensuring that student mobility program goals are met. They are accountable for program operations, ensuring that all partnership agreements, promises, commitments and obligations are fulfilled. They proactively collaborate with global campus colleagues and institutional partners, as well as with colleagues in Education Innovation and across Northeastern University to continuously improve the quality of program operations, co-curricular and extra-curricular programming, and student services.

The position is responsible for ensuring that students are well prepared for their global campus programs and experiences. The AD coordinates with global campuses and institutional partners in managing onsite staff, ensuring that student well-being, community-building, and learning standards meet Northeastern's expectations.

The AD should have a working knowledge of college student life, place-based learning, student development theories, and academic program administration. This position requires significant interaction with Education Innovation teams, academic departments, institutions, organizations, students, parents, faculty, and other individuals both on and off campus in a fast-paced environment. As such, the Associate Director should possess excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Additionally, this position demands a significant amount of patience, flexibility, and initiative.

The AD is expected to travel to conduct trainings, site visits, attend, facilitate, and/or prepare meetings or conferences domestically and internationally.

The AD may supervise assistant directors and lead on-site staff.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree plus 2+ years of academic administrative experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 4-6 years of academic administrative experience required.
  • 2- 5 years of higher education administrative experience or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with students is required. Advising experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of student life and student mobility required.
  • Proven ability to approve and manage budgets for line-item expenditures required.
  • Ability to work well with limited supervision, both independently and in a team environment, required.
  • Customer service and event planning experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent intercultural communication skills required. Proven ability to positively engage people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience managing part-time and full-time experienced and entry-level staff required. Experience managing remote staff preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to inspire others and to work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders required.
  • Professionalism and collegiality; ability to interact with global partner representatives, faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality required. Must effectively represent the university to outside institutions and universities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment required.
  • Sharp critical thinking skills, ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, and ability to make decisions in a timely manner in high-pressure situations required.
  • Strong organizational, project management, administrative, and computer skills required.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required. Familiarity with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems (e.g., Banner) preferred.
