COVID-19 Project Manager

Position Summary:
The COVID-19 Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring an efficient, coordinated return to University operations following the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will critically assess current resources and procedures to identify gaps and opportunities for synchronization and effective execution. This position will develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility. The Project Manager will work in close collaboration with members of the President's Cabinet, Provost's Council, Faculty Senate and Staff Council. The position will be a direct report to the Office of the President. Duties will include participation on the Infectious Disease Response Team (IDRT), the events safety committee, and other relevant topic based working groups as appropriate. The individual will be expected to coordinate efforts for the greatest efficiency in response to resource applications, procurement of supplies, and distribution of resources working with the appropriate leadership units.

This role provides privileged access to the inner workings of the University of Idaho and to highly sensitive information. The successful candidate will be discreet, high-energy, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, diplomatic, an effective communicator, highly organized and committed to the values and mission of the institution.


Minimum Qualifications:
- Management experience required, preferably in a highly complex, matrixed organization such as an academic center, a university or a public-sector/government organization;

- Experience in interpreting and applying policies to comply with regulations;

- Five years experience that includes:
  • collecting and analyzing data, summarizing findings and generating reports to present to leadership
  • planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating projects or initiatives
  • developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures and recommending change
  • editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
  • working with minimal supervision while prioritizing workload to meet deadlines

- Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Advanced degree with senior leadership experience;

- Experience and expertise in crisis response management and restoration strategy in a complex organization;

- Superior writing, composition, verbal and English grammar and proofreading skills;

- Superior problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely and appropriate manner;

- Ability to work with complex and demanding issues and schedules, demonstrate sound judgement and discretion, and maintain a calm demeanor and non-anxious presence;

- Knowledge of the University of Idaho and the State of Idaho;

- Deep knowledge of project/change management and communications methodologies;

- Proven project management record of accomplishment, specific experience with deployment and process engineering.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
May include work on weekends and outside of regular business hours.
