Basic Function:
Advise and coach degree-seeking students and alumni across all academic disciplines in the process of exploring career options, identifying goals, developing career management skills, and successfully pursuing career opportunities. Partner with colleagues across campus to assess student needs and interests, designing and delivering innovative, high-quality programs and services to enhance the career and professional development of all students.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive career advising services primarily to degree-seeking students and additionally to alumni, administer and interpret career assessment tools as needed
Develop, present and facilitate innovative workshops, seminars and programs on career related topics to wide range of audiences
Train students on the effective use of technology and online resources for their career exploration, decision-making, and search processes
Support the offices strategy for communications, marketing, event planning, and related activities, including assisting with special events
Assist with the offices employer outreach activities, plan and participate in employer site visits, and stay up-to-date on employment trends and career development issues
Contribute to data collection (including annual surveys and phone campaign), reporting and analysis for career outcomes, needs assessment, use of services, and related topics
Represent the office to constituents on-campus, serve on university committees and initiatives as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Masters degree in student personnel administration, higher education, related field or equivalent training and experience. Bachelors degree required.
One to three years-experience working in higher education or similar environment required, career development experience preferred.
Experience with educational programs and services for diverse student populations including first-generation, international, and multicultural students.
Knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), business, humanities and arts disciplines at undergraduate and graduate levels preferred.
Excellent customer service and communications skills, able to work with internal and external constituents, excellent presentation skills for large and small groups.
Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, ability to work independently and adapt to change in the workplace.
Capability to learn and proficiently utilize career related online systems and resources, office computer applications, attention to detail and quality in all work products.
Availability to work some evening/weekend hours to support office initiatives.
