The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Exercise Science. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, engage in scholarly activity, seek external funding, serve on committees at all levels of faculty governance, provide academic advising to students, chair and serve on thesis committees, and maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the department, including community outreach. Primary teaching responsibilities and specific assignments will depend upon Department needs and priorities.

Qualifications:

Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.): An earned doctorate.

Required Experience - Applicant must be able to demonstrate:
  1. College teaching experience in academic classes.
  2. Experience in scholarly activities.
  3. Experience in academic and/or career advising.
  4. Experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
For appointment at the level of Associate Professor, successful teaching at the graduate level, and professional and scholarly productivity commensurate with standards for promotion to Associate Professor at California State University, Fresno are required.

Required Teaching Qualifications:
College teaching experience in one of the following areas is required:
  1. Biomechanics
  2. Body Composition / Sports Nutrition
The successful candidate must also be able to teach one or more of the following areas:
  1. Exercise Physiology
  2. Motor Learning / Development
  3. Health and Wellness Promotion
  4. Strength and Conditioning
  5. Research Methods
  6. Statistics
Specific assignments will depend upon Department needs and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Two or more years of successful teaching at the college or university level
  2. Successful teaching experience at the graduate level
  3. Experience in research and scholarly activities
  4. Evidence of seeking and/or acquiring external funding
  5. Appropriate professional certifications and/or licenses

About the Department:
The Department of Kinesiology is in the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Fresno. The Department is one of the largest on campus and has approximately 1,100 undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology. Undergraduate Kinesiology degree Options include Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Sport Administration. In addition, the Department has approximately 60 graduate students pursuing Master's degrees in Athletic Training and in Kinesiology with Options in Exercise Science, Sport Psychology, and Sport Administration. The faculty have been honored with numerous awards and recognitions in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service, come from diverse backgrounds, are student-oriented, and are committed to maintaining a collegial working environment.
Due to our unique and diverse student population, California State University, Fresno is designated as a minority-serving institution.
