Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: December 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary function is the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and supervision of machinery, tooling, equipment, and engineering software in all engineering laboratories. Designated Safety supervisor for all laboratories. Secondary function is to train and supervise engineering & technology students, assist faculty, and other authorized personnel in the safe, efficient operation of all machinery, equipment, and tooling in all engineering laboratories. Maintain supplies and safety equipment, estimate and revise laboratory budgets in coordination with the Director of the School of Engineering.
Installing, maintaining, monitoring machinery, tooling, supplies, and other equipment in the School of Engineering Machining Laboratory.
Training all users of the Machining Laboratory on the safe operation of machinery, tooling, equipment, and the proper use of safety equipment in the Machining Laboratory.
Supervising all users of the Machining Laboratory to ensure safe operation of all equipment, tooling, and machinery.
Installing, maintaining, monitoring machinery, tooling, supplies, and other equipment in the School of Engineering Materials, Fluids, Electronics, and Maker Space Laboratories.
Planning and budgeting for all Laboratories in the School in coordination with the Director of the School of Engineering.
Serve as the School's Laboratory safety administrator/supervisor and conduct training for all users, student, faculty, staff, or authorized visitors on the proper, safe, and efficient use of all laboratories in the School of Engineering.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology Education, Technology, related field, OR related/professional experience. The individual must have experience in machining, use of CAD/CAM software, supervision and/or operation of a full service machining operation, and relevant safety training and technology instruction necessary to operate a machining laboratory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology Education, Technology or related field. Experience in 3D printing, robotics, robotic welding, or other advance manufacturing.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

The Degrees: The School currently offers two degrees: Mechanical Engineering with emphases in design, robotics and manufacturing, and General Engineering with emphases in electrical, civil, and industrial engineering. New degrees in Electrical and Civil Engineering are in the planning stages.

The region is heavily oriented towards engineering and manufacturing with over 10,000 engineers within a 50 mile radius. Industries include agricultural equipment, robotics, automation, materials, sensors, renewable energy, civil, power, advanced manufacturing, and defense. Students typically obtain paid year round internships starting as early as their sophomore year, work with companies during their senior design projects, and graduate with multiple employment offers. Faculty are expected to participate in the mentoring of students and in providing advice for student-industrial teams.

Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,332): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000).
