Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Humanities and Arts Department invites applications for a part-time instructor of jazz studies to teach Jazz History and Jazz Theory and to direct three ensembles: Stage Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Workshop for the academic year 2018-2019. We are seeking applicants with extensive experience performing and conducting ensembles, particularly student jazz ensembles. Applicants for this position must have a Master's Degree in Music or Music Education. This will be a one-year position to replace our current Director of Jazz Studies, with the possibility of later conversion to a full-time position. WPI has a thriving music program in all areas of performance, history, theory, and technology, with as many as 500 students are involved in those areas.

Music faculty at WPI belong to a multi-disciplinary Department of Humanities and Arts. The successful candidate will teach jazz theory and jazz history, will direct three jazz ensembles that meet weekly, and will direct and/or oversee all jazz performances.
