Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Instructor, Literacy Language Arts in the department of Curriculum and Instruction. This is a one-year appointment.

The candidate would be expected to: teach 12 credits per semester in early literacy, elementary literacy and reading specialist courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.

Master's degree

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Required Years of Experience:

Other Requirements:
Masters degree or higher in Literacy Education or related field.

Experience in teaching P-5 literacy.

Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher, or substantial promise of such effectiveness, both in the classroom and in the guidance of students. Demonstrated capacity for professional growth and accomplishment. Ability to work constructively with members of the University community.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Literacy. Knowledge of literacy instruction in P-5 educational settings. Evidence of work with linguistically diverse populations. Experience in innovative instructional practices in inclusive settings, public school environments, and the integration of technology. Experience in collaborative efforts with public schools, teaching at the university level, implementing on-line distance education, and accomplishments and/or a clear agenda in research, publications and professional service. Experience with the NCATE accreditation process and the International Reading Association Standards for Reading Professionals is highly desirable. Responsibilities may include supervision and/or fieldwork with students.
