Job Summary
Assemble, install, disassemble, fabricate parts, repair and test machinery and mechanical equipment such as equipment washers, disinfectors, blanket warmers, steam lines, vacuum sterilizers, instrument washers, disinfectors, sterile dryers, pasteurizers, conveyers, heat sealers, gas recorders, electronic door openers and high pressure steam systems.

Program, calibrate, troubleshoot and replace circuit boards for medical sterilizers. Replace or repair defective devices including fans, sterilizer units, motors, gear boxes,

automatic and manual controls.

Assemble, install, repair and modify structures such as ducts, machine guards, brackets, tanks, fan and filter housings.

Maintain and repair water supply systems for sterilizing boilers including plumbing, fitting, faring, threading, binding, sweating and changing pipes.

Monitor computer systems and battery backups.

Set up and operate sterilant gas monitoring system, including maintaining data and tank storage for all units.

Monitor gas exhaust, refrigerant mix and other safety related items and prepare reports to proper agencies.

Set up, install and maintain sonic cleaner systems.

Repair or replace electrical outlets, switches, and light fixtures. Braze, solder and weld pipe, sheet metal and metal fixtures. Adjust, repair and replace sheaves, bearings, belts and guards.

Replace or repair defective devices including fire pumps, sprinklers and body lifts. Maintain repair and replace facility systems.

Maintain and operate medical gas vacuum, air and air compressor systems.

Disassemble rotating machinery and replace defective parts, such as bearings, shafts, valves, and gears, and reassemble.

Isolate cause of machinery breakdowns and disorders utilizing pressure and temperature gauges or measuring devices and determine maintenance or repair needs.

Lubricate bearings, oil motors, and check v-belt alignment and adjust or replace frayed or damaged belts.

Provide in-service training to other employees on building and equipment inspection, maintenance and repair.

Coordinate the work of assigned assistants.

Replace components of water, drain, air and gas and lines.

Prepare sketches and specifications for structural components and building fixtures. Minor insulation repair or replacement.

Required Qualifications*
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Must possess the requirements to drive a University vehicle.

Must be familiar with and have the ability to use hand tools.

Must have prior experience with customer service skills.

Must be familiar with current computer application software.

This position routinely moves throughout the Hospital complex , ascends/descends ladders to perform repair and will require the pickup, carrying and moving of heavy objects.

Must have previous experience in the field of sterilizer maintenance and repair with similar experience in associated equipment.

Desired Qualifications*
Previous experience working with medical equipment, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.

Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Work Schedule
Tuesday - Saturday, 6am - 2:30pm
