The College at Brockport, State University of New York is accepting applications for a Manager of Print and Mail Services in Printing Services. Reporting to the Director of Campus Services, the Manager of Print and Mail Services is responsible to manage the daily operations of Printing and Mail Services for the campus. This position provides considerable self-regulation of both routine and job flow/variability. The wide range of diversified activities require the manager to exercise judgement as to the final determination of work method(s) and procedures, and to schedule tasks effectively and appropriately to meet deadlines.

Major Responsibilities
  • Supervises and trains Print and Mail Services employees. This includes all facets of the pre-press and printing, and mail operations, and requires that the manager be involved in the hiring, counseling, dismissal (when necessary), training, evaluating and day-to-day supervision of all shop personnel to insure the smooth functioning of the in-house Print and Mail Services area.
  • Reviews time and attendance records, as well as scheduling employee's time off.
  • Acts as a consultant to the college-wide staff, especially the graphic design and communication areas.
  • Interacts with all staff levels and positions within the College.
  • Provides departmental responses to customer inquiries via e-mail, mail, walk in and phone. During these contacts, it is the manager's responsibility to assist in determining the needs of the customer and ascertain the best solution(s) in view of various time, materials, staff or equipment considerations.
  • Follows through with production of projects to provide a timely, quality product.
  • Maintains direct contact with campus clients to answer specific job questions.
  • Maintains inventories of shop materials and supplies, and replacement of, or recommendation(s) for (new) equipment, within SUNY purchasing constraints.
  • Prepares cost estimates as needed, processes monthly chargeback and IFR billings, completes written evaluations of Print and Mail Services employees, provides special progress reports that may be requested by management and most importantly, provides hands-on support to all areas of the shop.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
  • Extensive experience with digital print software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, EFI Command Workstation, FusionPro and EFI MarketDirect StoreFront.
  • Hands on experience with full color digital production color print machines.
  • Experience with digital bindery equipment.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to prioritize multiple duties.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to work with diverse workforce.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous SUNY experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Graphic Design.
  • Experience with production mail machines and processes and a working knowledge of USPS regulations and cost.


Department Description

The Manager of Print and Mail Services will report directly to The Director of Campus Services who also oversees Procurement & Payment Services as well as Central Receiving. The department is part of the Division of Administration & Finance.
