RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide individual, couples, and group mental health counseling services to a diverse student body presenting personal and academic concerns. Prepare and present psycho-educational and prevention programming. Provide crisis intervention, assessment, and consultation services. Other responsibilities include maintaining counseling records in accordance with legal and ethical standards, participating in committee work, attending meetings, and maintaining professional credentials by attending conferences and training workshops. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. This is a ten month position beginning August 1st and ending May 31st each year. This position reports to the Director of the University Counseling Center. RANK & SALARY: Rank is Academic Support Professional (ASP) as defined under Unit B of the bargaining unit University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100. Salary and benefits are competitive and appropriate for academic support professionals within the bargaining unit. The salary range for this 10-month position is $38,000-$43,000. The successful candidate must have or be able to obtain an Illinois clinical license within the first two years of employment. Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills are required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Full-time, post-master's degree experience as a mental health provider. Strong clinical skills and experience providing individual, couples, and group mental health counseling services and psycho-educational programming to a diverse student body within a college setting. Preferred candidates will hold a clinical license and will demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the assessment and treatment of various mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, autism spectrum, and personality disorders. Experience working with multicultural issues, survivors of sexual trauma, and/or men's issues is favorable. The candidate should also have a clear understanding of developmental issues facing college students and have experience meeting the needs of clients from diverse populations and communities. For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).Additional Information:THE DEPARTMENT: The University Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc.
