Position Summary
IWHS is a private, college preparatory Catholic all girls high school of approximately 500 students. The Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe traditional Catholic learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. The Principal will be responsible for effective communication and a positive working relationship with the University of the Incarnate Word through its management function, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, and the Archdioceses of San Antonio. The Principal will report to the Dean of Education at the University of the Incarnate Word. The successful candidate must be a practicing Catholic with a proven record of educational leadership.

Description of Job Duties
1. Serves as the instructional leader and demonstrates authentic leadership skills, capable of making tough decisions and leading a cohesive team. Is present and visible to students and teachers around the school.
2. Establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
3. Promotes the mission, values and the Catholic identity of the school.
4. Supervises the instructional program of the school.
5. Establishes a professional rapport with students, staff and parents.
6. Oversees the day to day operations and management of the school.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrates excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
2. Demonstrate integrity and good moral character.
3. Highly developed communication skills.
4. Highly organized and strong follow-through with tasks and promises.
5. Ability to manage budgets and implement spending procedures and oversight consistent with University of the Incarnate Word directives.

7. Ability to schedule classes, develop curriculum, manage personnel and facilities, and lead instructional programs.
8. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Education
Requirements include a Masters degree with teacher and Principal or Mid-Management certification in Texas.

Required Work Experience
A minimum of five years teaching and five years administrative and supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Administrative experience at the secondary level is preferred.

Texas Teaching Certificate and Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certificate
