Position Information
In the Heart of Inland Southern California, UC Riverside is located on nearly 1,200 acres near Box Springs Mountain in Southern California; the park-like campus provides convenient access to the vibrant and growing Inland region. UCR gives every student, faculty and staff member the resources to explore, engage, imagine and excel. UCR Extension is the continuing and professional education division if the University of California, Riverside offering over 80 programs and certificates to domestic and international students. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Academic Programs, the Public Education Specialist II is responsible for the implementation and of new academic programming and maintenance of continued programming. This is done by means of planning class schedules, screening and selection of instructors, and coordination with academic services. Additionally, this position functions as an advisor to students, administrative support to instructors, and may act as a liaison with industry partners, the K-12 education community, and campus. Please note: University Extension career employees at UC Riverside who have passed their probationary period will receive priority consideration for this position. If a qualified pool of candidates from within the organizational unit is not identified, qualified candidates from the campus, UC system, or external candidates may be considered at the discretion of the hiring department.


Minimum Requirements
Working knowledge of delivering public educational programs.
Working knowledge of conducting needs assessment.
Working knowledge of current public education programs and trends.
Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of training programs.
Working skills to produce and deliver programs.
Good reading, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and good presentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of departmental and organization policies and procedures; knowledge of educational program content and objectives.

Working knowledge of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing policies and requirements for teacher education programs.

Knowledge of UC system tools and Extension student information systems.
