Reference and Instruction Librarian

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seeks applications for a Reference and Instruction Librarian at the Penn State Beaver campus for a one-year non-tenure track faculty position. We seek a proactive and innovative public services librarian to provide general and specialized instruction and reference services. Major responsibilities include course-related and course-integrated library instruction, in-person and virtual reference service (LibAnswers); development of print and web-based (LibGuides) research and instructional materials; consultation with faculty to support their research and course development; and participation in collection development with responsibility for building and maintaining collections across the curriculum. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. Duties of this position include collaborating with colleagues at Beaver and across the University Libraries in planning, delivery, and evaluation of library instruction and reference services. Requirements: This position requires a MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent); experience related to information literacy instruction, reference, and research support; strong knowledge of print and electronic information resources; demonstrated commitment to being student-centered; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; and strong commitment to diversity, equity, respect and inclusion. Preferred qualifications include at least one year of post-MLS experience with relevant reference and instruction experience at an academic or research library and demonstrated experience with current technologies. Environment: Penn State Beaver is located in Monaca, PA, 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Compensation and Benefits: Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
