Job Summary
Position available immediately for technician in a laboratory that studies bacterial antibiotic resistance evolution. Projects in the laboratory will involve biosafety level 2 work with bacterial pathogens. The successful applicant will perform laboratory research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and will work as part of a team that includes post-doctoral fellows and graduate students and undergrads.

Experiments will include the following techniques: bacterial culture, recombinant DNA, real-time PCR analysis, DNA preparation and sequencing. Maintaining and documenting lab safety, general lab maintenance, dishwashing and autoclaving, ordering of supplies, preparation of stock solutions, and data management will be required. Participation in lab meetings and data presentation are expected. Must work effectively in a team setting, be able to communicate well, and keep clear records. Specific skills that are necessary also include ability to input and analyze data using common software programs.

Required Qualifications*
The successful applicant must have at least a bachelor's level degree in the biological sciences and 1-3 years' experience. Candidate must have documented experience in bacteriology and molecular biology. In addition, the candidate must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work both semi-independently and collaboratively in a research team, and the ability to communicate clearly with team members and the PI.

Desired Qualifications*
Additional desirable skills include expertise in the above techniques and familiarity with computer programming and advanced data management.
