Job Summary
Successful candidates will collaborate closely with a research team on projects in the fields of health economics and applied econometrics. Research assistants are involved in all stages of the research process and are expected to work independently within the scope of their responsibilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, collaborating on research design, conducting data analysis, interpreting results, training other research assistants, and drafting and editing manuscripts and presentations. Research assistants interact directly with Professor Amanda Kowalski, her co-authors, and other research assistants on a regular basis.

Candidates should have a long-term interest in pursuing research related to economics. Prior background in health economics or public finance is useful but not necessary. This position is ideal for candidates looking to develop their empirical research skills in preparation for applying to PhD programs in economics. For continuing education, research assistants have opportunities to attend weekly seminars in economics and to get feedback on their proposed research ideas. Previous research assistants have enrolled in top economics and health policy PhD programs.

Responsibilities*
Duties include, but are not limited to, collaborating on research design, conducting data analysis, interpreting results, training other research assistants, and drafting and editing manuscripts and presentations, under the direction of Professor Kowalski.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in Economics or related field required. Prior experience with data analysis and data analysis software a must. Candidate must be highly detail-oriented and possess communication skills.

Desired Qualifications*
Prior background in health economics or public finance preferred; Preference will be given to detail-oriented applicants with previous programming experience, particularly in working with large datasets in software such as Stata, SAS, R, or Matlab.

Additional Information
Please note that this position would start in the summer 2020 and is a two year term limited position (until August 2022) that may be extended based on funding.

The salary range is $35,000-$42,000. Please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.
