Job Summary
This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR) and services Michigan Medicine hemodialysis units.

Wage: $55.00/hr. base rateEvening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11pNight Shift Differential is 3.00 per hourWeekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

The acute unit is an 8 station unit hours of operation 0600-0130 Monday - Saturday. The outpatient units are 12-16 station units serving up to 96 patients. Hours of operation are 0500-2130 Monday - Saturday.

Responsibilities*
Independently and completely performs focused assessment of dialysis patients to provide the most effective patient care. Assess, monitor, report and manage significant changes in a patient's condition/status, including responses to medications and treatments. Provide nursing care to patients including the administration of medications and treatments ordered and assist with interventional procedures. Document patient care, including changes in patient's status. Identify problems presented by patients and families and initiate appropriate interventions. To provide nursing advice and consultation and act as a resource to other health care team members. Individualizes communication based on the assessment of the patients and families. Independently set up, prime, initiate, manage/monitor and terminate specialized renal therapies

Required Qualifications*
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Four (4) or more years recent RN experience
  • Current AHA BLS Provider certification
  • Minimum one (1) year recent hemodialysis experience
  • Ability to read telemetry

Work Schedule
*Commitment is 30 hours per 4 week scheduling block*

Day and evening shifts are 10 hours in lengthLocation: Central Staffing Resource (home base)

Expected to float to like hemodialysis unit, both acute and chronic, where competent and qualified in times of decreased cases

Inability to work for (3) months consecutively leads to automatic termination from employment

No guarantee of work at any time. Shifts can and sometimes will be cancelled.

Additional Information
TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete requiredUM mandatories and competencies (BCLS every 2 yrs., Cardiac Arrest and maintain allother applicable certifications).2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work isavailable. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster specialty.

3). A Temporary Nurse should work 30 hours per 4-week schedule block. You may request three(3), ten (10) hour shifts.4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientationprogram. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinicalcompetency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by theTemporary RN.

This temporary position may meet eligibility requirements for health care benefits.
