Student and Alumni Affairs Liaison

The Student and Alumni Affairs Liaison supports programs and services intended to increase APUS community engagement and retention, to include campus leadership, mentoring, student organizations, virtual communities, alumni engagement, community outreach, and external collaborations. The Liaison builds relationships with students, alumni, and university leaders; and provides clear communication to community members using virtual media platforms and university promotions. Through co-curricular programming and coordinated services, the Student and Alumni Affairs Liaison aids students and alumni in the pursuit of their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Essential Functions:
  • Serves as a liaison for Student and Alumni Affairs programming, which may include:
    • Supporting the Alumni Advisory Council
    • Building strategic partnerships
    • Attending community events
    • Management of alumni organizations
    • Campus Leadership initiatives
    • Student organization management
    • Mentoring and professional development initiatives
    • Virtual community management
    • Honors and award programming
    • Alumni engagement initiatives, such as:
  • Project coordinator and administrative support for all current and future Student and Alumni Affairs initiatives
  • Conducts research, compiles, and analyzes data to prepare reports and other documents to assess established Student and Alumni Affairs program outcomes
  • Researches information needed for the maintenance of programs and services
  • Participates in projects to further develop and improve department processes and resources
  • Provides reporting support as needed by various Student and Alumni Affairs Teams
  • Involved with the identification and training needs for new systems applications
  • Participates in the proposal creation, launch, and effectiveness tracking of various Student and Alumni Affairs services and student resources
  • Ensures Student and Alumni Affairs content and events are communicated regularly through appropriate university channels
  • Manages and provide support for monthly membership drive processes
  • Emails and phone queue support
  • Reviews all websites, handbooks, and supplemental materials on a monthly basis; ensure all content is valid and up to date
  • Assists with special projects as needed to enhance the Student and Alumni Affairs Department
  • Remains current on industry standards and best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
  • Ability to assist in the creation and implementation of approved project plans
  • Ability to self-manage multiple reports, examine trend analysis, and submit documentation to senior manager
  • Ability to adapt to and solve problems in an ever changing environment
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a production and customer service based environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Independent worker capable of setting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact with students and APUS staff in a professional manner
  • Intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to obtain, organize, identify trends, and make meaning of data
  • Self-starter with initiative
  • Require minimum supervision and maintain a strong attendance record
  • Ablility to maintain proficiency in technological applications and systems

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Standard office environment
  • Ability to telecommute, based on manager approval

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree from Accredited Institution or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in higher education
  • Experience with project management, data, research, and assessment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Project coordination experience
