Job Summary/Basic Function:
Lamar University invites applications and nominees for the position of Vice President of Information Management and Decision Support Services. Reporting to the president, the vice president will:

  • Oversee all core university software and applications, data storage and retrieval, data security, business continuity, institutional reporting and decision support analytics;

  • Seek to achieve the most effective means of securing, storing, and retrieving data, as well as monitoring data accuracy in support of all relevant constituencies;

  • Provide and cultivate an environment where technology and analytics are used as valuable resources in decision making;

  • Identify technological tools to implement work efficiencies and cost-effective technology solutions; and

  • Work in close collaboration with the software user community on campus and remain abreast of developments in the areas pertinent to these applications.

  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of College policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to data use, security, and storage.

  • Seek to align the performance of his or her office to support and further the strategic plan of Lamar University.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    Candidates must have a minimum of a Masters degree in Information Management, Computer Science or related areas; preference will be given to individuals with a doctorate. Candidates must demonstrate a distinguished record of accomplishments in higher education, private sector, professional practice or public service commensurate with the expectations for this position.
