Position Announcement

The Department of Architecture Engineering Design (www.uvu.edu/aed) invites applications for a one-year lecturer faculty position in Architecture to begin August 2025. This position is a placeholder for a tenure-track position.

The architecture lecturer teaches a wide range of architectural design studios and other courses such as architectural theory, graphic communication, theory, history, and building science. The faculty member attends and participates in department meetings and may serve on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching

The Architecture Engineering Design Department offers a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) five-year professional degree that prepares students for leadership in the profession as licensed architects. The degree is rooted in classical and traditional architecture. The architecture program contains a certificate and an Associate of Science degree. Students looking to matriculate into the B.Arch degree can choose the architectural drafting and design track of the A.S. in Engineering & Design Technology to complete all the required coursework for the first two years of the B.Arch degree.

Candidates must submit all required materials to qualify for an interview. Candidates are responsible for all travel-related costs associated with in-person, on-campus interviews.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Required Qualifications:
  • NAAB accredited professional architectural degree or professional architectural degree equivalent and at least a master's degree in architecture or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional practice experience in an architecture office, minimum of three years.
  • Certificate in Classical Architecture from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA) or degree from a university with a focus in classical or traditional architecture.
  • One or more years of successful teaching experience in higher education.

Licensures or Certifications:
Physical Requirements:
Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering programs.

  • Effective verbal and technical written communication skills.
