Job Description
The Division of Enrollment Management (EM) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our HR Recruitment and Staff Development Coordinator position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to enhance the accessibility of higher education, fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment, and improving the recruitment and graduation of our students. The target starting salary for this position is $45,000 - $48,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Responsibilities
The Position:
This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.
The HR Recruitment & Staff Development Coordinator supports professional development initiatives and recruitment efforts within the division. This role coordinates logistics for the Grow 360 Professional Development Program, annual meetings, leadership retreats, and training events, including vendor management, scheduling, and content creation. They assist with division-wide assessments to identify professional development needs and collaborate with HR and communications teams to promote opportunities. Additionally, the coordinator manages logistics for talent searches, including developing search committees, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks. They actively source and engage candidates for leadership and specialized positions, ensuring a positive candidate experience and facilitating recruitment logistics, such as travel and interview arrangements.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree with 5+ years of office experience or,
Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of office experience
Must have experience in a customer service focused environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree-
4+ years of professional HR experience (recruitment, compensation, learning & development, and/or employee relations)
Experience in Higher Education
Experience working with IRIS (SAP), Taleo, and/or Oracle.
Experience using spreadsheets, extracting data, and running reports.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks, relationships and other competing priorities within tight deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software applications, including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word).
Strong proofreading and editing skills with careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to interpret policy and analyze reports.
Ability to interact with constituents from all levels of the campus community.
Ability to advise on alternative recruitment practices.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to proactively resolve issues and seek answers.
Due to the sensitive nature of personnel issues this position holder must be professional and discrete.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of employment related federal and state law.
Knowledge of IRIS (SAP) and/or DASH.
Knowledge of recruitment strategies for underrepresented groups.
Knowledge of higher education organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures is preferred.
Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving travel and/or employment is preferred.

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations.
