Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Research Services Entry Level Laboratory Sciences Professional to join our dynamic team focused on investigating the impact of viral infection on microglial dysfunction and Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our research aims to understand how herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection influences metabolic signaling pathways in the brain, contributing to the development and progression of AD. The long-term goal of this project is to identify novel therapeutic targets that could lead to more effective treatments for AD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in vitro experiments to examine the response of microglia to HSV-1 infection.
  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research
  • Use small animal models of Alzheimer's disease and infectious diseases. Work with mice (breeding, injections, survival surgery, drug delivery, imaging, behavior, and necropsy) will be performed
  • Review and implement lab support policies, practices and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, psychology genetics or related field

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicated effectively, both in writing an orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the organization
  • A keen interest in neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $46,274 - $58,861.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
