Job Summary
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Music – Music Technology for Las Positas College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in MUS 35 Introduction to Music Technology and MUS 36 Intermediate Music Technology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(1) Teach courses covering the following fundamental aspects of music technology: computer skills, software-based sequencing, synthesis, MIDI, sampling, notation, principles of sound, microphones, introduction to digital audio, signal processing, mixers and mixing, recording principles, cables and interconnects, and audio in live performance;
(2) Oversee equipment and software in Recording Studio and Keyboard/Music Technology Lab. Help with studio design for new Recording studio project (to be completed Spring 2027). Oversee studio use by students;
(3) Assist in expanding Music Technology program with new curriculum and attend annual CTE Commercial Music Advisory Board Meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. An active career (current or past) in music technology;
2. Successful track record of teaching music technology, preferably at the college level;
3. Overall high levels of engagement with the campus and student body.
