Administrative Assistant III - Veteran Education and Transition Services

The Veteran Education and Transition Services department is seeking an Administrative Assistant III.

Under direct supervision, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Processing and maintaining of records of VA beneficiaries claims as a School Certifying Official (SCO).
  • Creating and maintaining forms and manuals of office procedures.
  • Provide support to departmental leadership on a variety of tasks and projects.
  • Maintain continuous knowledge of the Department of Veteran Affairs and institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our staff and external customers.
  • Assist with program development and participation in student veteran events and activities.
  • Multi-task with in-take of paperwork, greeting students, and answering phones.


Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation, processing, and reporting data on records; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
  • Experience in Peoplesoft.
  • Experience Microsoft Excel.


Scheduled Weekly Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Starting Salary

Grade 27, Step 1 - $46,207.44

Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
