Primary Purpose of Position:
The Doctorate of Nursing Practice tenure-track nursing faculty will serve as a faculty member across the curriculum for the McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing, focusing primarily on the Doctorate of Nursing (DNP) and Masters of Nursing (MSN) roles. The faculty member will serve to enhance the core mission of the School of Nursing and the university while enhancing and supporting students' learning environment, critical thinking, discovery, and engagement of new knowledge and skills.

Job Description:
The McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing recently transitioned from a thriving department that experienced exponential growth in the areas of workforce development, community service, and research, invites highly qualified applicants to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position.

As part of our transition, the School of Nursing is currently seeking an individual with educational preparation and a drive for innovative teaching approaches to accomplish the 2030 Future of Nursing Continued Vision and AACN's Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education. The individual should have a keen interest in teaching, community service, and scholarship.

As a nationally accredited program, we prepare the nursing workforce to serve rural, urban, and global populations through our pre-licensure BSN, RN-BSN, RN-MSN, and graduate nursing programs.

This is a 9-month position with the opportunity for summer teaching.

The successful candidates' primary responsibilities include assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design and review, providing classroom and clinical instruction, student advisement, and participating in departmental governance as well as official activities of the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and University. Other responsibilities include contributing to the development of the nursing profession through research and scholarship as well as engaging in community and professional service associated with the area of expertise.
  • Teach across the graduate nursing curriculum
  • Assist in curriculum design, implementation and evaluation
  • Advise and mentor graduate nursing students
  • Participate in departmental governance and service activities within the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and the University
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, grant writing, and publications
  • Contribute to the nursing profession through community engagement and professional service

Management Preference:
Preferred:
  • Five (5) years of experience in a nursing practice area
  • Experience teaching statistics and/or population health
  • Experience working in public health and/or community health, or as an advance nurse practitioner
  • Four (4) years of experience in teaching graduate courses
  • A strong record of research and scholarly publication
  • Experience in online teaching modalities
  • Active participation in professional nursing organizations
  • Evidence of assisting graduate students with scholarly writing for submission to peer-reviewed publications
  • Evidence of nation presentations
  • Strong interest in preparing nursing leaders at the highest level of nursing practice to improve patient care outcomes and translate research into practice


Lic or Certifications Required by Statute or Regulation: Unrestricted North Carolina RN license or compact state required.
