Position Information
Hiring Department: Human Resource Department
Posting End Date: Review of resumes will begin immediately and continue until a qualified candidate is selected.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $50,000 annually. Non-negotiable

Purpose of Position
Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Specialist II will assist with the administration of campus-wide Employee Relations (ER) practices in compliance with state and federal laws, and the Regents' Rules and Regulations of the University of Texas System.
Under limited supervision, the Human Resources Representative II performs various Human Resource related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities primarily addressing employee relation investigations, researching, and processing unemployment claims, administering, and developing training seminars related to the campus wide performance review process. Collaborate with ER Assistant Director to assist new managers with management and training.
Essential Functions
Assists with the assessment of employee relations processes, such as resolving workplace issues and ensuring compliance with employment law. Will investigate, advise and contribute to a productive work environment.
Coordinates document inquiries and fulfill the requests from various federal and state governmental agencies relating to employee records.
Assists ER team by conducting ER investigations, working with the ER Assistant Director, Director, and AVP by making recommendations for actions.
Assists Human Resources (HR) team with dissemination, tracking, and processing of the university's performance evaluations tool (ePerformance) submissions, reports findings to the Manager, Director, and department heads; assists with the coordination of ePerformance trainings to university departments and colleges.
Maintain and process Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) unemployment claims in a timely manner, through the Equifax system.
Provide assistance with compiling ER information pertaining to separations (voluntary and involuntary), unemployment claims, subpoena inquiries, and open records requests to report findings to the Director on a monthly basis.
Maintains the appropriate personal disciplinary action records for each employee's file within the document management system of record.
Assists the ER Assistant Director with developing and maintaining an interactive ER website using proactive measures that will assist faculty, staff, and students.
Partners with Training and Development by researching and coordinating ER related topics to be developed into training programs for employees and management staff.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institution software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
and
Experience: Three years related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge in Conflict resolution practices, employment law, disciplinary process and procedures, group presentations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, experience working in human resources. Problem-solving and analytical skills, able to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
