Job Summary:

Provide maintenance, repair, and operation services for all University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus buildings on a twenty-four-hour basis. Responsible for providing utility and facility support for research and learning facilities, in a manner that promotes the university's mission of health care, education, and research. This work unit is responsible for monitoring and responding to calls for building systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVACR), electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

This is an overnight 3rd shift position and includes work on weekends and holidays. Shift start times vary between 10PM to 11:30PM, ending at 7:30AM to 8:30AM on weekdays, with weekend starts varying between 11:00PM to 12:00AM (midnight), and ending at 12:00PM (noon).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides facilities support for campus operations outside of normal business hours.
  • Operates, monitors, services and/or repairs system and components for all CU Anschutz campus buildings.
  • Monitors, interprets, and responds to building alarms.
  • Responds to emergency calls pertaining to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR), electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility system failures and interruptions. Determines problem and solution. Sets priorities based on urgency. Coordinates with various other subject matter experts as needed, i.e., trade supervisors.
  • Performs minor building repairs for building occupants (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Performs preventative maintenance and/or inspections on building mechanical and utility systems, electric carts, lighting, elevators, and fall protection equipment.
  • Records issues using desk computer and maintains a Shift log book.
  • Provides routine maintenance and repair assistance for the central utility plant, and logs information about problems and actions as required.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of progressively responsible pipe and/or mechanical trades experience related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing.
    • Substitution: Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steam fitting, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

NOTE: This position has been designated as essential personnel, and will be required to respond to emergencies as needed. Position may also be required to stay late, come in early, or cover shifts as needed. If hired, you will be required to provide effective off-hours phone contact info for emergency call-in purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience fixing and maintaining equipment and machinery
  • Experience in heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Experience performing basic data entry into a computer
  • Experience keeping activity logs
  • Experience working overnight shifts

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
  • $4,238 - $4,662 per month ($50,856 - $55,944 per year).

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
