Position Information

Hiring Department: UTEP College of Engineering

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $41,784 annually.

Purpose of Position

Summary: Delivers hands-on training and technical assistance to help customers become more profitable via improvements in quality, productivity and general business operations. This position operates in a hybrid environment, with approximately 50% of work performed in-office and 50% in the field. The employee is expected to use their own vehicle when traveling for business purposes. Mileage reimbursement may be available, depending on the project scope and funding guidelines.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:



Reporting progress on official database (TCATS).

Monitors project billings/collections and submits monthly Status Report to management.

Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

Researches product development and participation in TMAC Centers of Excellence.

Deliveries and implements MEP training programs (Lean techniques, Training Within Industry, Quality systems, etc).

Provides engineering services to manufacturers and other businesses in industry.

Collaborates with senior staff in the solution of problems using new techniques, technologies or concepts.

Writes technical reports of recommendations and projected outcomes.

Coordinates activities of students working on senior projects in support to TMAC customers.

Complies with all federal, state and University policies.

Promotes TMAC and extension services within the University.

Monitors and reports economic impact of services provided; helps in preparation of budget requests, and performs other job-related duties as required.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree.

and

Experience: One year of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience or coursework in Lean Six Sigma, process improvement, or quality management systems
