About the Opportunity
The Laboratory of Addiction Genetics, headed by Dr. Camron Bryant, Professor in the Center for Drug Discovery in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University is seeking to hire a full-time research technician. Responsibilities will first and foremost include assisting in the maintenance of two breeding colonies (rats and mice), including detailed record keeping, tissue harvesting, DNA extractions, and genotyping. Ordering supplies and assisting in the onboarding of new students and staff will be additional key responsibilities. Additional tasks could include RNA and protein work (extractions, brain slicing, immunoblotting, IHC, ICC), cell culture, and curation of rodent behavioral data, time permitting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological or behavioral sciences. Competitive applicants will have prior experience in working with live rodents and basic molecular biological skills (DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, gel electrophoresis). The applicant should also have exceptional organizational skills and experience in data organization/curation/analysis and experience in using Microsoft Excel and Prism. Other sought skills include effective communication orally and in writing, attentive listening and following instructions, working independently and cooperatively with others as part of a team, managing time effectively, troubleshooting problems and deriving solutions independently. Individuals must be highly organized and dependable.

Expected Hiring Range:
$20.47 - $28.14
