JOB TITLE:

Regional Director

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide educational business advising, leadership, vision, and oversight for the South Central region of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a statewide program at the University of Wyoming that offers technical assistance to Wyoming businesses and entrepreneurs who want to maximize their potential for success. The South Central Wyoming office is located on campus at the University of Wyoming and serves Albany and Carbon Counties.

This position includes delivery of education, advising, training, and networking services as well as budgetary and operational management of the regional program. The role requires expertise in cybersecurity and advising in its application for small businesses or the enthusiasm and ability to gain this expertise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Management:
  • Serve as team member of the Wyoming SBDC Network and regional director for the South Central region (Albany and Carbon Counties)
  • Provide leadership, vision, strategic planning, development, and oversight of the regional program
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for Wyoming SBDC Network South Central region

Business Advising and Services:
  • Deliver comprehensive business advising services including:
    • Financial analysis and planning (budgeting, cash flow projections, access to capital)
    • Business planning and development
    • Marketing strategy and eCommerce solutions
    • Human resources practices and management
    • Determine regional business needs and develop appropriate educational programs, training, and services to address them
    • Track and measure service impact to ensure effectiveness
    • Provide business assistance through multiple channels including in-person meetings, phone, email, and web conferencing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field, or equivalent combination of education and and professional business consulting experience

EXPERIENCE: 5 years work-related experience

LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Understanding of or experience with the SBDC
  • Demonstrable relevant experience, interest, or background in cybersecurity.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university and/or successful equivalent experience in professional consultation in business development, leadership, and management
  • Proficiency in business marketing fundamentals and digital platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in business ownership or senior management role
  • Proven track record of effective business advising or counseling
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and self-awareness
    • Ability to serve as advisor, coach, mentor

WORK LOCATION:

On-campus with potential remote options: This position may be eligible for hybrid work with the successful candidate must be located in Laramie, WY.
