Job Overview
The Assistant Research Manager for the Center for Translational Transplant Medicine (CTTM) will function as the Assistant Research Manager (ARM) role. The ARM for CTTM directly supports the Research Director to oversee the daily operations of the clinical research team. This includes but is not limited to coverage and staff scheduling, oversight of participant management through trials, tracking accruals, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance as well as human resource oversight including hiring, onboarding, ongoing training, and performance evaluation. The ARM will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision following institutional, departmental, and research best practices. The ARM will function as an essential member of the multidisciplinary team that performs clinical research studies. The ARM must be well-versed in the safety and regulatory aspects of clinical research studies. As such the ARM will adhere to safety guidelines and protocol compliance and quality assurance, conduct treatment, and education, assist with data management, and will possess knowledge of regulations that apply to the safe conduct of human subjects research. The ARM will be the go-to lead for the clinical trials team, liaising with Principal Investigators (PIs) and assuring adverse event data and safety reporting is conducted compliantly per Protocols, the regulations, and institutional policies and SOPs. He or she is to provide efficient implementation of the study protocol, create new systems as needed to ensure efficiency and study team satisfaction and provide direct input into the feasibility and selection of new trials. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable District of Columbia and federal laws and regulations and Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
The candidate will work M-F however may be required to cover holidays or weekends as needed to support clinical trials enrollments or arrange the coverage thereof.
Work Interactions
CTTM is the research arm of the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute, one of the busiest abdominal transplant centers in the Atlantic region. Clinical trials transplant research requires constant management of both the study teams and also administrative and financial aspects of the trials. It is essential for the ARM to understand clinically the health and safety of patients while also assuring the research portfolio remains financially healthy and successful and well-staffed to serve participants. This position allows the Research Director to oversee all aspects of CTTM including the basic science and translational lab and the tissue collection program.
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of and report to the Research Director who will delegate appropriate tasks to the ARM as needed. The candidate oversees and works amongst a team of clinical research assistants and coordinators who support the PIs through protocol implementation and study completion. The ARM is tasked with HR operations of the Center including hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring new and existing clinical research staff. The candidate is expected to work closely with the multidisciplinary team, specifically as delegated by the Research Director and PIs
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5 or more years of related experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills required
- Leadership experience is required, prior research management experience is preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, self-directed, motivated, and have the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment with a primary focus on patient safety
- BCLS, ACLS or applicable medical knowledge preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google platforms as well as electronic data capture systems and clinical trials management systems
- Background as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, licensed Health Professional or foreign-trained physician is highly desirable

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
