Job Summary:

Diagnostic Medical Sonographers perform sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.



Key Responsibilities:
  • At the direction of a qualified physician or advanced practice provider (APP), performs a variety of procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasonic equipment for the diagnosis of disease in humans.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders in order to perform the prescribed study.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, and referral, and attends to all age-related physical, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patients' understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of ultrasound technician experience.



Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Four or more (4+) years of ultrasound technician experience in an outpatient setting within specialty.
  • Epic, Kronos, and HealthStream experience.
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.



Conditions of Employment:
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
  • Registered as a Technologist (RT) and certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). State licensure if required by law.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross healthcare provider level CPR certification.
  • Must be able to work in person.
  • Must be able to travel/cover to alternate locations as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, to include physicians, leadership, and staff within the various affiliate organizations (UCH, Children's Colorado, CU Medicine, CU SOM).
  • Ability to work within large, complex healthcare systems.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to compile complex reports and develop presentations.
  • Ability to compose letters and memorandums.
  • Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $82,992 to $95,218.



The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
