Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
Mary Livermore Library supports learning and teaching, research, creation of knowledge, intellectual growth, and enrichment of the academic experience. The university works to "change lives through education," while the library "enhances education through research."
Primary Purpose of Position:
The University Library Technician for Instructional and Research Services assists with the dissemination of outreach, instructional and marketing materials, creates instructional and marketing materials and videos as directed, provides extended evening and weekend research coverage, provides backup to Patron Services as needed, supervises student assistants as needed, and assists with other duties designated by the Instruction and Outreach Librarian, Director of Research Services Librarian, the Assistant Dean/Director of Patron Services, or the Dean of Library Services. The University Library Technician for Instruction and Reference Services reports to the Instruction and Outreach Librarian.

The University Library Technician for Instructional and Research Services is an evening and weekend position at Mary Livermore Library. Evening hours after 5pm are compensated as shift premium. The position assists with the creation and dissemination of outreach/instructional/marketing materials, including creating displays, updating LibGuides, creating presentations, event flyers, etc. The successful candidate will create instructional materials and videos in various formats using digital editing tools. This position also provides research assistance in the evenings, weekends, and as needed on other occasions. The position provides backup to Patron Services as needed, supervises student assistants as needed, and assists with other duties designated by the Instruction and Outreach Librarian, Director of Research Services Librarian, the Assistant Dean/Director of Patron Services, or the Dean of Library Services. The University Library Technician for Instructional and Research Services reports to the Instruction and Outreach Librarian. A successful candidate may have experience with Canva / Camtasia / LibGuides.
This position is Mandatory Personnel. Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.
