Data Management Specialist
Job Summary
The Data Management Specialist I supports the Office of Institutional Research by gathering, analyzing and entering Faculty Activity Reporting data. This role also assists with data processing tasks that support additional data requests and projects.
Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Collects, sorts and enters Faculty Activity Report paperwork.
- Collects data and resolves data discrepancies.
- Accurately enters and maintains high-volume faculty activity data and reviews supporting documents by set deadlines.
- Assists in data entry, data cleaning, testing and management procedures for data requests and reports.
- Reviews and corrects data errors, verifies output accuracy, and escalates complex issues as needed.
- Supports communication across institutional departments to gather data and supporting documentation for reporting.
- Uses relational databases to keep project records and generate reports.
- Drafts portions of publications or training manuals. Produces graphs, charts and tables from data.
- Places information on the project website, including data gathering forms. Investigates related websites for format and content.
Other Duties:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires a high school diploma and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Relevant experience in entering and maintaining data and documents.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Two Years Relevant full-time experience entering large volumes of data and document management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous tasks within deadlines.
- Skilled in collecting and analyzing complex data.
- Skilled at accurately entering data with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates strong math skills to accurately perform calculations, analyze data and support reporting tasks.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
